twinkler forever, sparkler forever, summer of 2023 @ skylab gallery, columbus, oh

Exhibition Shot 01 by Bradley Weyandt

"🧛🏽🧛🏽🧛🏽 Twinkler Forever, Sparkler Forever is an exhibition of new textile work by Bradley Weyandt. Gauzy depictions of archetypal bad boy blood suckers are humbly knit by the artist, then tautly unfurled across a field of nails. Meticulously crafted of reflective Mylar, the intricate textiles conjure the enigmatic essence of immortal beings, like an Edward or an Angel, evoking an enchanting and seductive power, beckoning one to fall prey to a world where shadows dance with desire and darkness holds an irresistible allure. 🧄 🧄 🧄"

Bradley Weyandt is an artist practicing between Columbus, Ohio and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. He's studied a fair amount of art and how to make it. He received his MFA (sculpture) from Ohio State University (OSU) in 2022. Weyandt uses and has used many, many different materials to create work. Lately, he has been using a hacked knitting machine to create these large-scale textiles/tapestries. Even more recently, he spends one night a week at a local rec center, dabbling in hand building ceramics. Maybe, one day, he'll show the ceramic sculptures.
